Adobe's Helvetica bitmap faces for X11, shipped with the X Window System between 1984 and 1994 and a fixture of Unix desktops for decades. Four styles - roman, bold, oblique and bold oblique - across the 75dpi and 100dpi sets for twelve pixel sizes in total (8-34px), each face carrying 756 glyphs in ISO 10646.

Détail des effectifs et définitions

Le total CJK sélectionné réunit les quatre listes Han, les hiragana et katakana JIS avec ー・, les syllabes hangul et le bopomofo de base, sans doublons. Les jamo, les Han de compatibilité, les autres kana et les autres bopomofo sont comptés à part.

Un même point de code peut avoir des glyphes différents selon la région, notamment grâce aux substitutions localisées OpenType locl. Une couverture commune ne signifie donc pas des glyphes identiques.

Unicode 17. Comptage par point de code, sans normalisation des variantes ni des idéogrammes de compatibilité. La carte inclut les 12 idéogrammes unifiés du bloc de compatibilité ; les autres sont comptés à part. « Communs simpl./trad. » désigne les points de code partagés par les listes Han simplifiés et traditionnels. « Exclusifs » désigne les caractères absents des trois autres listes.

Un seul fichier réunit toutes les tailles de cette police sous forme de strikes bitmap, sans contours vectoriels. Une fois installé, chaque taille est utilisable sur tout système qui restitue les strikes bitmap.

De véritables polices vectorielles dessinent chaque pixel allumé comme un carré ou un point rond et fonctionnent donc à toute taille. La version carrée respecte exactement le bitmap ; la version ronde l’interprète avec des cercles. Seule la plus grande taille en pixels de chaque fonte est proposée, puisque les contours se redimensionnent librement. Les fontes comptant énormément de glyphes n’existent qu’en version carrée.

woff2 produit à partir des contours vectoriels. Choisissez une taille multiple entier de la taille de dessin pour garder la grille de pixels nette.
